Reflective Questions for a New Year

At the end of every January, Emily and I answer these questions individually then have a breakfast date to discuss our answers. She wrote these questions a number of years ago and this has become one of my favorite ways to ready my soul for a new year. If you choose this reflection practice then I would suggest spending most of the month of January with these questions and make sure you allow plenty of time to talk through them! Hope this helps, John

What worked this past year? What didn’t work? What do I need more of next time? What as the loneliest part? When did I feel the most like myself? In what areas did my confidence grow? Who or what did I learn the most from? What were my favorite yeses and nos? What is one thing I know for sure? A pivotal decision I’ve made? A question I am still carrying? What I most want? What are specific objectives I have this year? Is there a word that captures where I feel led to go this year?
