End of 2025 note

Ten years after Dad died, I had a dream where he walked right up to me and said one simple phrase: “Imagine that… John Pearce, the one who hears.” Then I woke up.

After some prayer and reflection, I took this as Dad overhearing what God the Trinity was saying about me. You may think this is weird but I took it as a wonderful affirmation to my soul and reinforcement of my vocational calling.

This dream continues to inspire me to be a holy listener and do the work of soul care and discipleship. The past eight months I’ve meditated on the transfiguration story (Luke 9) and have been struck by the call to hear the Father, “This is my Son, listen to Him.” Holy listening means we have one ear to God and another to the person in front of us.

Emily and I are officially empty nesters! This has been the busiest Fall season I’ve had in ten years. I have noticed, especially in younger men, the need for reduced priced experiences to get away and deepen their faith in Christ. One-on-one work will continue but the plan for 2026 is to begin hosting affordable overnight spiritual retreats for smaller groups. I love taking guys into the woods, having deeper conversations, and listening well to their soul. Our house in the North Carolina foothills is the perfect location for this!

Your end-of-year and/or monthly partnership will help to support these spiritual  retreats. This local Greensboro ministry is made possible because of your generous financial support and I’m so grateful to do this work I love.

Peace to you,

John Pearce Freeman
